How does Minerva work?

Step 1

STEP 1
Your doctor will dilate (open) your cervix and insert a thin, soft wand into the uterus through the vagina and cervix.

Step 3

STEP 2
The wand opens slightly and generates light and heat for 2 minutes, thinning the lining of the uterus.

Step 4

STEP 3
The wand closes and is gently removed.

What are the risks and side effects?

Minerva is a simple endometrial ablation treatment designed to be safe and comfortable. Side effects beyond the normal discharge as you heal are rare. They include, but are not limited to, thermal injury, perforation of your uterus and infection. Temporary side effects may include cramping, nausea, discharge and spotting and can be managed with over-the-counter pain medicine.
